Bernice Cooke Laverty Papers

Bernice Cooke Laverty was born in Calfornia in 1904. She served as the University of Denver Lamont School of Music's speech teacher for a number of years. This collection contains programs and photographs from various plays and musicals directed by Laverty as well as correspondence, musical scores, songbooks, scripts and teacher's guides.

Abstract Helen Bonfils built the Bonfils Theatre, on East Colfax Avenue at Elizabeth Street, Denver, Colorado, in 1953. The theatre was built to try to preserve live theater in a time when Hollywood Films were taking over the entertainment industry. Crescent Comedy Company Collection of American Melodrama Scripts

Contains 38 scripts of melodramas assembled by B.A. Bergman, manager of the Crescent Comedy Company (also known as the Crescent Stock Company), based in Chicago. The working scripts (containing dialogue, stage directions and music cues) were used for performances in Chicago, Illinois and on road tours, chiefly in Michigan.

Harry E. Huffman (1883-1969) was an early theater pioneer in Denver, Colorado. He owned the Bluebird Theater, the Aladdin and the Tabor during his career.
